Alright…
I’ll admit I’ve been a horrible, horrible blogger. That’s going to change. I wanted this to focus on writing but I’ve decided it needs to cater more to my other interests, otherwise there’s not much for me to put up.
So, the wonderful, mutli-talented, Shannon Boodram is having her anthology ‘Laid: Young People’s Experiences with Sex in an Easy Access Culture’ released on October 1. I’m excited for her, since this is her first book, and I’m hyped myself since one of my short stories appears in it. It’s definitely not where I expected to get printed in first but it was an opportunity to share my work alongside my experiences. This is just the start mind you. I’ve got, maybe, three short stories in development right now. One is very close to being complete. I’ll be aiming high, shooting for literary magazines such as Zyzzyva. If it doesn’t work, it’s not a big deal since I’m expecting rejection letters. My other two stories are horror, I suppose one is kinda Lovecraftian, or both, since he’s definitely my main inspiration (not very surprising, I know.)
I also have a few pages of a novel I’m working on, I’m just waiting to finish my short stories before I get into it. It’s all in prep for National Novel Writing Month in November. Everyone who participates is expected to write a 50,000 word novel by the end of the month. Sounds hard but tons of people do it. The only thing is that 50,000 is way to short for most publishers to look at. They expect, I think… maybe 80,000 to 100,000 for an up and coming author’s debut. Not too short and not too long. Anyway, check it out at http://www.nanowrimo.org/
I also thought I’d share my growing passion for the arts, which includes fashion alongside painting, drawing, and all the other expected mediums. Maybe not the most macho thing to get into but I think I forfeited that when I got into art in the first place.
Check out the fashion based off of Tim Burton’s work. I saw these and ever since…
